Monet was a foundational figure of Impressionism, and his work helped shift painting away from fixed description toward the experience of light, weather, and atmosphere. He painted outdoors, returned to the same subject at different hours and seasons, and treated vision itself as something unstable and alive. That is why his work often feels airy, luminous, and quietly radical: it is less about objects than about how the world flickers before the eye.
